PROJECTS:

Backstage at the Instituto Marangoni show

Shooting  for Noctis and The Upcoming magazines, Huw has covered many catwalks but also enjoys the freedom of shooting backstage.
This student show on a very hot summer night was an unexpected favourite.

Ride London 2023

The Ride London is  a 100 mile team cycling event.

Trying to capture the women’s determination from the start to the finish line, Huw also shows us the style of this truly colourful event.

Extinction Rebellion Climate Emergency

These well orchestrated protestors took over London and disrupted traffic on Waterloo Bridge, Marble Arch and Oxford Circus in order to save the planet.
Some of whom had glued themselves together and to other objects to support this worthy cause.
Huw tried to capture the festival spirit of the whole protest that purveyed despite the many arrests.

Hi-Vis

Shooting in public has it’s drawbacks. Huw decided to address the ever present appearance of Hi-Vis jackets in the background of his shots by making them the subject of this project thereby saving himself hours of retouching and a look at people in their working environment.

All Dressed Up and Somewhere to Go

A look at the stylish in motion.

Here’s a selection of his  more candid take on street fashion as seen at London Fashion Weeks.

Indigo Summer

Indigo Summer is an observation and a celebration of communities who use denim to help express their identities. What began as a functional, durable fabric for workwear has, over the past 150 years, been adopted and adapted by many different sub-groups, becoming a symbolic fabric, worn by outsiders, teenage rebels and contemporary fashionistas.

Photographer Huw Jenkins visited various events during the summer of 2023, taking a predominantly candid approach to photographing the people he met. He found people keen to involve him in their passions and witnessed how a sense of community is created though friendships built on shared identities.
